Confusing and difficult to deal with

not understanding how Redfin works, we tried to schedule an apptmt to see a home from the times shown on the listing, which lead one to believe that you will be accommodated fairly quickly. it took us almost a full day via emails to try and get an apptmt to see the house - which we didn't understand - then we found out that the agent that doing the showing lived over an hour away in another state. Huh?? Skeptical, we did some work and figured out what was going on, basically that the listing was with another firm (small print) and that Redfin agents try to squeeze themselves in to being the Broker on a deal via the Redfin listing. so this agent's incentive was to be our Buying Agent on the deal should we put in an offer. We didn't know anything about this person and had not even met him so no, this would not work for us. We cancelled the apptmt and the agent was very nice but then told us that if we wanted to see anything else he was our agent so we could call him. that didn't feel comfortable so we shot off an email that told him flat out that we were not interested in having an agent. despite that he still responded that he'd be happy to show us a home. so the deal here is that Redfin in trying to get business by inserting itself into a listing and apparently saving you money on the commission via rebates. that's fine if you need an agent, just make sure you understand that.
