I contacted DC PLUMBING HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING INC. to replace a water line valve used to fill our swimming pool. They sent a man named Rod out who quoted me $150.00 to remove and replace the faulty valve. Rod did not have the correct replacement part in his van so he placed a temporary value on the line and promised to return the next day with the correct part. I cut a check for $150.00 and gave it to Rod before he left. He did not return the next day…or the next…or the next. Eight days later Rod returned with the correct part and proceeded to try and extort an additional $300.00 to have the correct valve installed. He arrived with another man, both smelled strongly of marijuana and were obviously stoned out of their skulls. When I quoted what he said to me on his initial visit he claimed I misunderstood him. I did not. I’m not an ***; I would never agree to pay $450.00 to have a $40 part installed. I refused to pay this ridiculous fee and ordered both potheads off the property. Bait and switch operators like this prey on unsuspecting victims and I am filing this complaint in hopes it prevents somebody from being ripped off as I was.
