complete incompetence and dangerous cars

2

3 weeks ago I visited EH in Grantham to trade in my car and buy another as I have a growing family. A very pleasant salesman assisted me look at a car on their approved second hand forecourt, this car is badged as ready to drive away today and was presented valeted and ready to go. We took it for a test drive and here is where the problems started, the car pulled violently to one side under breaking, the suspension banged at the slightest bump and the engine management light was on. Funnily enough I told the salesman this is not for us. It apparently had a brand new MOT in the least few days and he couldn't understand why they had placed a car for sale that was unroadworthy and dangerous and allowed me to test drive it . The salesman went away and got his boss to agree to fix everything before we took it away I could test drive it again once fixed and pay the balance. In the meantime i left a £400 deposit and was told to come back in 3 days to collect the car as it would be repaired, I was happy with this as all the faults were easily explainable and repairable. I came back 3 days later and they knew nothing of me or the collection. I raised my concerns and was promised the general manager would call me to explain, I called everyday for the next 5 days and could not get to talk to him each day promising he would call back and nothing, I eventually rang one day and asked will he speak to me and the receptionist said no so I had to visit the dealership and front up to these people face to face after I great deal of shouting the other potential car buyers all left the dealership he admitted they still hadn't started to repair the car because they had more important collections than mine. I queried who had MOT'd the car was it evans halshaw and he wouldn't answer my questions. I demanded a refund and guess what 7 days later I still don't have the refund for my deposit. Evans halshaw are dangerous cars dealers, they sent me out on a test drive with a dangerous unroadworthy car that could have killed me or other road users/ pedestrians. They present these cars for sale claiming it safe to drive and presenting it ready to drive away. All their bluster about 100 point checks in this case was lies as there is no way this car would have passed an MOT or been approved as safe to drive. Avoid them like the plague. The are the worst sort of second car cowboys. The local managers are cowards and will not address their clients concerns and take no ownership of a problem, they would make great recyclers they take junk make it look nice and sell it as something it's not. I wish I had found this site before visiting their showroom. I am just glad I survived .
