Unethical and very overpriced

1

One day, our garage door decided to stop working and upon inspection, it appeared it was the garage door spring that was broken. Calling a few companies, I happened to land upon A1 Garage Door, a company that has "wonderful" reviews (more on this later). Calling in, they were fast, friendly and had someone out within 2 hours... great! I will give them an A+ here. Here is where things started to fail... 1. The technician immediately noted the garage door spring was broken and said they had two options, a cheaper option around $300? maybe and a "lifetime" spring that would cost close to $600. OUCH! $600 for a stupid spring? THIS DIDN'T include labor. A spring should cost no more than $100 and they know this. 2. Next, after the springs were replaced, he found a myriad of problems... the bearings, the rollers, the cable and the brackets, all to the tune of $1,300 for stupid repairs. Seeing they had good reviews, I went ahead with the repairs, only to find out later I could have purchased a brand new door for this price. Jokes on me. He felt bad so he decides to throw in a tune-up for free, which basically entailed a few pumps of spray in the tracks... Thanks. I'm furious about this and am now letting the world know to avoid this rip-off. I can only imagine what they do to 89-year-old women. Here's WHY you do not choose A1 Garage Door upon my inspection: A. They hire an outside reputation company and almost all of their reviews are fraudulent. Don't believe me? Go to their Google reviews and look at how many 5 star ratings they received. I reported their AZ profile and Google worked with me to delete all of the suspicious reviews, which brought them down to a 1.7 out of 5. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? The company posts 20+ reviews in 24 hours. 20 people DO NOT post 5-star reviews in less than 24 hours. Aside from Google, please go to the Yelp "not recommended" reviews to read the same problems I had. Again, they use the help of outside services to help them receive these wonderful reviews. B. The company is highly overpriced. As I said, they run the biggest scam in the book, offering you lifetime parts. What you have to know if you have to pay more than $100+ to have them come back out and replace it when another shop could have done the entire repair for that price. Remember, they have to stay in business.
