I initially went on LTD due to shoulder issues, but within about 10 months it was discovered that I had a rare tumor in the center of my brain. I had the tumor removed, but suffered a stroke after surgery. I was left with several impairments that nearly 5 years later prevent me from working more than 3 - 10 hours per week. On December 16, I had a call from Disability RMS who handles Voya Financial claims. I was told that my benefits were being terminated because their doctor (hired gun) claims that my impairments are due to depression/PTSD. Two neuro psychologists state my impairments are due to brain surgery and cerebral stoke. My MRIs show changes to my brain from pre-surgery to post-surgery and yet my benefits are now cut off. I don't understand how any company can get away with this. ERISA laws need to change and disability insurance companies need to be held accountable.
