Do not sign a contract with Crossfit Riot

I was extremely disappointed with Riot's customer service after trying to resolve a billing issue. This company clearly cares more about money than their loyal customers. I signed up with Riot in July after using a 10 session Groupon. I really enjoyed my experience there and wanted to continue. I signed up for a three month membership on July 8, 2013. I was billed $161 on July 11, and started my membership on the 15th. I was then billed on August 16th and September 16th. I last went to Riot on October 14th. As I thought I had understood my membership was over after the three months since I had to choose that I wanted a 3 month membership and not a 6 month membership on the contract. When The coach had explained cancelation it seemed as if you only needed to cancel if you wanted to stop your membership before your three months was up. And again, why would I need to cancel a three month membership after the 3 months. A three month membership should mean that your payments stop after three months. October came and went and I was not billed by Riot. However I received an e-mail from Riot on December 15th at 2 am that my 6 month membership payment had not gone through. I wondered why Riot was charging me for a service I no longer use and looked into the matter. Also, I never signed up for a 6 month membership with Riot. I saw that my credit card had been billed on November 23, 2013. I thought this was strange because although I had thought my contract with Riot was up, I had always been billed on the 16th, as per the contract. So to be billed on the 23rd of November and then again less than one month seemed fishy. I contacted the owner about the matter and he informed me he could issue no refunds as per their contract. However, there are many parts of the contract that Riot never fulfilled. For example, The coach never gave me copy of my contract and obviously did not go over it with me properly. The coach should have made the details of the contract clear (as it is not clear in the contract and I have had many people look at it and agree) that once my 3 months was done I would actually have to inform Riot on my 2nd month that I need to cancel my membership. This is a scam for Riot to make money. They are hoping that people will be confused, not cancel, and then they can collect money for no services rendered. Consumers beware! Also, the coach never signed the contract on the blank he was supposed to. I would think that this automatically voids the contract. Also, my contract said I would be billed on the 15th of the month. In July, Riot billed me earlier than what I signed, they billed on July 11th. And in November they billed me on the 23rd, but did not bill me in October. The fact that I was not billed in October according to the supposed roll over policy of the contract also voids the contract. Riot has not been consistent with the terms of their own contract. I asked for the $161 to be refunded into my account. I should not have to pay for services I did not receive. I was astonished at the way The owner conducted himself in his e-mails. Some immature and unprofessional quotes from the owners e-mails to me: "We do not give refunds and as well are not a bank." "It's your responsibility, not ours!" "I don't sit in front of my computer and try to steal money from people's bank accounts." "This is as black and white as it gets." The customer service was appalling. I do not feel like a valued customer. It seems that Riot having $161 in their pocket is more important to them than having an honest reputation. I was a good customer when I went to Riot. I paid on time. I even brought my friend and a co-worker in as a customer and recommended my co-worker. To date, I have paid Crossfit Riot over $600 with my purchase of two Groupons, private lesson fees, and a three month membership. Do not use this gym unless you want horrible customer service.
