Desco Software Review from Walled Lake, Michigan

3

We bought the software a bit over a year ago. I have seen pros and cons since. I will start with the cons as this list is short. CONS: I was pissed when I was informed by one of my team members that, unless we paid the annual fees for support, we had to pay for a call for help. These fees (in my case), were a bit over $400 annually. We don't experienced many issues that we need to call Support to fix (part of the pros) so we do not pay these annual fees. We use to use the mobile portion of this software to dispatch, invoice, bill, process credit/debit card payments, etc. Upon learning of the annual support expense, I learned that if we opt out of the support plan, we no longer can use this mobile portion. (This was NOT explained to us when we replaced our $25 / month Quickbooks Online program with this software that cost several thousand dollars...... and will now cost $400 / year). After learning of this, I, of course began digging through paperwork and found it was listed on the invoice we received upon buying the software. An email that came with a thousand others and was shuffled into our Desco folder on Gmail. Having been explained the price of the software and having seen matching charges to our bank statements, I saw no reason to read the invoice line by line. My mistake. The reason we left Quickbooks was to integrate all of our tasks into one piece of software. We now have to find different applications to handle our mobile invoicing and payment processing. (Counterproductive = bad way to function in business) PROS--- It is EXTEMELY rare that we come accross an issue we can't figure out. The program does everything they said it would, and does it well. The software is incredibly detailed. If you are willing to pay the annual fees, this software will integrate almost every aspect of your business into one local hub in your hard drive (or server). While it is considered pricey to myself and some other small business owners, comparatively, it is much less expensive than similar products from its competitors (Southware!!!!!) I think the best aspect of this software is that, after you buy it, it is yours! The database is yours. This is basically a functioning mini operating system, that will continue to serve as your secretary, your accountant and your memory. CONCLUSION--- I didn't hop on to leave a bad review. I saw this consumer's review and wanted to ensure that people can see that I had a bit of a different experience. I would hate for Desco to take a bad wrap for one (or a few) bad moves. As a business owner, I know that not all transactions go smooth, but you learn from them and try to ensure the next customer has a better experience. The software holds great value in my opinion. I believe that this software (at it's price tag) provides plenty of profit to Desco. Is it too much to ask to provide the support to your loyal customers for free? I don't get charged when I buy a new OS from Microsoft (for alot less money) and have issues. Nor when I call Apple. I just wish we would have been told about the direct relation between the mobile app and the annual service fee. Bryon -Door Link Network Salt Lake City, UT
