Deckmasters Technologies of Pittsburgh and Mr. Pat Nicholson,CEO

1

Our contract with Deckmasters Technologies of Pittsburgh was written and signed in 2012 and there were several issues with the workmanship and install of our new deck and porch. Included in the written contract was a replacement pet gate which was to be constructed from the same material as the new decking/railing. The written contract also included a Lifetime Warranty for as long as we owned the deck. Since 2012, we have pursued Deckmasters Technologies via phone calls, voice mail messages and the Pittsburgh Home and Garden Show. None have produced results. Two months ago we opened another Better Business Bureau complaint against this contractor for not providing us with the Lifetime Warranty Guarantee from the business. Deckmasters concedes that the consumer did not pay the contract in FULL. The consumer confirms the contract was not completed due to the missing pet gate that was specifically written in the contract, photographed and documented by Project Manager, Mike Daven. Consumers should NOT be expected to pay for services not rendered and respectively, companies should NOT expect payment for services they have not provided to the consumer. That being said, we personally feel that the resolution to have the company install the pet gate to fulfill its contract; and, for us as the consumer, to pay the full balance of the contract should have been both amicable and mutually satisfying to all. Mr. Nicholson gets his $640 contract balance and we get our pet gate along with the Lifetime Warranty Guarantee. We are confused by the response from both the company AND the BBB, since we are certain that the entire thought process behind ‘Better Business’ is driven from ‘offer’ and ‘acceptance’ in contractual matters. The company offered a pet gate in its written contract and specified the cost of that work. We accepted and are willing to pay the cost in full when the service (pet gate) is delivered. The bottom line is we are consumers without a LIFETIME WARRANTY that was part of this written contract. Why would a business be unwilling to provide the documentation for the Lifetime Warranty unless of course it had no intention of delivering it. Anyone who needs additional consumer examples of Deckmasters Technologies of Pittsburgh and details of its Lifetime Warranty offers can simply search by company name on the Better Business Bureau of Pittsburgh website to find additional violations. Bottom line --- a Lifetime Warranty is only as good as the business/man who stands behind it and Deckmasters Technologies of Pittsburgh/Mr. Patrick Nicholson cannot be trusted to deliver. BUYER BEWARE with this contractor/owner.
