I had a Plumbing technician come out to replace a pressure relief valve. The technician told me it was very comon and easy fix. Unfortunately, he did not tell me the price. The job took 30 minutes. He told me it was going to be $445 when he finished!! After he left, I called 3 other plumbers to get a price. All told me it would be the price of the valve and a service fee charge. All 3 said it would be between $100 to $150 all in. I call the manager and spoke with David or Dave and asked him why the price was so high compared to other plumbers. He started going on some crazy rant. He then told me the extra money was due to the warranty of the part. A part that cost no more than 6 dollars at home depot. He stood by the ridiculious price even though 3 other plumbers said it would be 1/2 the price.
