Access Property Management – Worst Property Management Company I’ve ever dealt with.

Over the past year and a half, I've lived in the same house. I love the house - I don't love the property management group. The first problems arose about a year ago. A friend of mine was trying to sublease from a current tenant on our joint lease, and every time he would call the management company (if he could even get a hold of them since they never return phone calls) no one knew who he was or why he was calling. Sometimes they even told him they we unaware any one was even looking to sublease at the property. Later, the same problems took place when another friend of mine tried to sublease from a different roommate. Not to mention, all the while, they were some of the most rude and unprofessional people I have ever talked to. When it came time to resign our lease, all four of us had agreed to sign for another year. At this time, Access took the liberty of assigning their once maintenance man, now property manager (whom I'm sure lacked proper credentials, and DID lack any and all people skills) to manage our property. He sent out not one, not two but three electronic leases - all of which ended up void. Why? Well, first he tried to act like we (the tenants) were doing something wrong. But later on the phone, he admitted to it being his fault. On top of this, one tenant and myself were dealing with a fall out with the other two tenants. They decided to give their 30 day notice to avoid paying a subleasing fee. That would have been fine, if Access would have verified it with all the lease holders. Especially since the girls planned on just moving out, without having to find anyone to take their place. I finally went in to the office in person to make sense of all that was going on to have this man tell me that there was nothing anyone could do, the current tenant and I (that weren't subleasing) had to pay the $1,100 for the month if the rooms weren't filled and there was nothing he could do. Wait, all of this could have been avoided had he been able to properly do his job and send out a lease that would actually work without being void for no reason other than his own ignorance of the program being used. So, I had to call the property OWNER to get things sorted out. Who was then told by the property management company not to get involved. But if he hadn't gotten involved, I would have been homeless. Because I can't afford to find double the amount of rent a week prior to it being due (this was when I had found out). The situation ended up rectified, we found two other roommates to move in, but remember what I mentioned in the beginning? Vicious cycle, turns out, a year later and they still hadn't learned how to manage properties effectively. We had two girls all moved in, and a third showed up with a U-Haul truck and keys. Keys that the company had refused to give to our new tenants until they signed the lease. The rude maintenance man turned even more rude property manager called me to basically tell me I can't tell someone they can't live there. Which is funny, because they shouldn't have told anyone they could. Apparently, they had never even heard of the fourth roommate that moved in, even though she had been in contact with them the entire time. Most unprofessional, rude, unbelievable company I have ever dealt with and urge anyone else to avoid Access Property Management at all costs. I know once I move out I will, even if they were managing my dream house. I will never do business with them again.
