A Better Clean, LLC in Kansas City, MO was guilty of price gouging. The Maids had stained our carpet accidentally and this company (Owner Merle Winford, 816-522-****) was sent by The Maids to clean THE WHOLE ROOM where the stain occurred. The workman sent just wanted to do a spot clean but we did convince him to do the whole room as promised, but he said it HAD to be done with wand that had no automatic brushes and that did a superficial job. To get the good wand (called a Rotovac) would cost us an additional $35 and I asked why not charge The Maids. We also asked the price to clean two additional rooms and it was $60. Also they wanted to charge a fee for gasoline used to come to our house. They wanted a total of $95 from us. This is despite the fact that 4 rooms is advertised on their website as $99 plus $35 for the Rotovac and each additional area is $20. So our cost should have been at most $40 and The Maids paying the rest ALTHOUGH 4 rooms total is hwat we were asking them to do. The worker? (brother of Merle) quoted a price of $30 for each additional area with the regular wand and $35 for each room with the Rotovac wand. Merle insisted the price for our two additional small rooms (no furniture being moved, just the walking paths cleaned) with the Rotovac WAS $95. HOW MUCH WERE THESE RIP-OFF ARTISTS GETTING FROM THE MAIDS? The total for both us and The Maids should have been $134 per their website.
