I got a message on my screen that I had a virus and not to turn off the computer but to call their number. They told me my computer was compromised, lots of people from all over the country were looking at it, and I needed a firewall. They wanted $199.99 to fix it. I was going to have them put it on a credit card that I don’t use very often. Then they gave me quotes for various contract lengths, and when I chose one for 499.99, they wanted a bank check saying it was more secure than a credit card. So, although I didn’t want to give it to them and because they guaranteed it’s security, I did, and they did fix the machine. But I’m wondering what else they did in there, and how much of my identity they now have.
