Was in need of replacement spark plugs for my Jet Ski while on vacation at lake. Brought a spark plug into Pendleton, SC O'Reilly Auto Part Store, gave it to the manager and told him "I needed three of those." He looked it up in computer and said, "We don't have that brand but I have some equivalents in another brand, E3. He pulled three E3 spark plugs from his inventory and insisted they were equivalent, just not the NGK brand that I brought in. I trusted him, bought the plugs and put in my Jet Ski.Ran Jet Ski for about an hour then it quit. Brought Jet Ski to mechanic when i returned home. Mechanic determined that the E3 spark plugs sold to me were NOT EQUIVALENT (TOO HOT) and they caused over $4000 in damage to engine. O'Reilly in Pendleton claims they could not have made that mistake even though manager remembers cross referencing my NGK spark plug and receipt shows he sold me plugs that were NOT Equivalent. They refuse to cover any damages. O'Reilly Corporate refuses to cover any damages. They say I should have visually seen the difference and should not have put them in. Bottom line - I trusted the manager when he INSISTED the plugs were equivalent and could be used. If O'Reilly Corporate logic applies, then why did a professional parts person (MANAGER) not see the difference? User's recommendation: Go to another Auto Parts Store that has professionals and will stand by it!
