Update by user Nov 28, 2020 This has not been resolved. How can you get it resolved when you don’t have your original receipt as I only have activation receipt. It had been escalated up to manager and they are still insisting on original receipt. I purchased this gift card in April and he recently tried to use it when I found out it’s NO GOOD. Would anyone have a receipt from 6months ago, I don’t think so.So basically I paid for a $100 gift card for my son in law’s birthday and it’s INVALID. So why should I lose my hard earned money because of an error the cashier made at checkout. What good is an activation receipt anyway if you can’t use it for proof of purchase. I will Never purchase another Vanilla Gift Card again. Customer service is terrible Original review posted by user Oct 29, 2020 My son- in- law tried to used the Visa Vanilla Card for $100.00 we gave him as a gift and it was determined to be invalid a couple of months later. He created a case number 2757**** with them. He was told he needed the actual purchase receipt (4/2020) all we had was the activation receipt and we went to Walgreens were it was purchased and they only go back 3 months to pull up a copy of the receipt, we had our bank account file that showed the procurement date of card along with the validation receipt which we told them, however our call to them resulted in them stating it has been expedited and my Son-in-law now needed to call them since he open the case number. Of course when he called they told him they can't validate the card because he didn't have the original receipt, this was approximately a total of 3 hours of telephone time between him and ourselves that really fell on deaf ears. Bottom line we are out $100.00 dollars and embarrassment as gift to him which cannot be used without any explanation other than it is invalid card and no other reason from anyone in their organization. Our recommendation is to avoid using Vanilla Gift cards at all cost ($100.00) and avoid useless telephone time that in the end will not gain you $0.01 (one penny). So thank you Vanilla Visa for all of your help or lack thereof. User's recommendation: Avoid Avoid Avoid.
