Car Dealer – new car sales

1

DEFINITION of 'Bait And Switch' A dishonest marketing tactic in which a marketer advertises a very attractive price/rate/term that is really a teaser rate meant to attract customers. 1) - We called to confirm the availability of a vehicle we saw on Greg Miller Toyota website 2) - Ray (in sales) acknowledged that the price was a really good deal because there was a $4K mark down and advised us to specifically ask for him to get the price honored 3) - Arrived within 30 minutes of phone call 4) - was shown a different vehicle - instead of the white with black interior as advertised 5) - was then advised the price cannot be honored by Tyler Wardle. Tyler then advised about the disclaimer on the internet which is a weasel way of simply telling us we fell for the dealer's Bait and Switch tactic. But if it was indeed a misquote, Ray should have told us over the phone when he saw the mark down. But instead, Ray advised me to come to the dealership with his word of honoring the price - that is a bait. And then showing me a different car when I arrived. And not agreeing to honor the price for the advertised car that was available on the lot - that is the switch. My wife was livid when I came home and told her. She called Tyler to complain, but he hung up on her mid-sentence. This is a very dishonorable business tactic because it does not take consumers' time into consideration. This is dishonest and selfish.
