Cannot Recommend 1-800Vending

Update by user Mar 10, 2015 I don't know if the subpoena notice is real or just a troll at work, but: 1) I did not post from West Bend, Wisconsin, but from central Virginia. The machine was in Gordonsville, VA and is now in Lyndhurst, VA. How West Bend got into this, I do not know. 2) I am not now nor have ever been an employee of any competitor of 1.800.Vending nor have I received any compensation of any sort for post I made concerning the 1.800.Vending machine I purchased. All my other machines are old Antares machines without electronic controls and were acquired when I bought out a route months before I was even aware of the existence of 1.800.Vending. I have no other vending machines than these. 3) I am self-employed as an accountant / bookkeeper for small companies helping them integrate computerized accounting into their business. I got into vending as a source of side income. Since the 2012 post, I have also been through the complete failure of the refrigeration system. Technical support was either unwilling or unable to get me documentation on the refrigeration system so that I could get it repaired locally. During the course of my attempts at getting support for this problem, I was led to believe that technical support did not actually come from 1.800.Vending, but from a 3rd party contracted for that task. Whether that remains true today, I do not know. It strikes me as peculiar that this subpoena action, if it is indeed real, is being taken some 3 years after my original post especially when I have never been notified of any response though the forum itself. Maybe the truth is finally getting under someone's skin. Original review posted by user Feb 25, 2012 I have other, older machines from another manufacturer that I picked up about a year ago when I bought out a route , but I could not use one of these when a new location opened because their construction involved a swing-open front. I came across 1-800 Vending when looking for a differently constructed machine and purchased one of their snack/drink machines new about 9 months ago. My initial research didn't uncover the problems with the company at the time. My relationship with their tech support began the evening the machine was delivered when I found that the bottom lock bolt had been stressed during shipping and could barely be opened. I was told that pulling up on the lower door while unlocking should help. I was able to open the door, but expressed a concern that the mechanism had been damaged and would fail in the future, but there was nothing else I could do at the time. The bill acceptor had problems almost immediately. Bills would get almost all the way through, but would then seem to catch on the last bit of one corner. The machine would then be unable to change bills although could still vend with coins. The first 3 calls to tech support resulted in 3 different answers as to how to fix the problem none of which worked. Later calls never seemed to be picked up immediately, but required leaving a message which I was promised by the answering machine would be answered either that day or the following business day. I am now on my 3rd bill acceptor and the problem continues with the latest theory being the acceptor manufacturer will be reprogramming the unit to run the motor a few milliseconds longer to clear the bills. I was recently contacted by someone claiming to be with the manufacturer who was to arrange swapping the old units with the latest and greatest, but as with other tech support related experiences, there's been no followup. On another matter, when the door lock failed as I feared, the 1st replacement was the wrong type and wouldn't fit and, while the 2nd was correct, the replacement instructions were minimal and incomplete. Another problem with service is that the technician answering the call seems to have no records in front of them detailing the history of the machine's problems and I have to explain the situation all over again. It is not clear to me after some other exchanges with technicians whether they actually work for 1-800Vending or are outsourced from another company. If their advice worked, I wouldn't care, but since the opposite is the case, it's another question I have wondered about. Every time this machine requires servicing, it costs me about 3 hours of travel and service time and $15-20 in gas. When you're making your profit a quarter at a time, this really hurts. All I asked from 1-800Vending was a machine that worked. Instead, I have a $4000 investment which has been an ongoing money pit almost from day one. Vending can be a good business, but I can't recommend this company based on my experience.
