Cancelled within 15 minutes, still no refund after 14 days

I made a booking with AVIS after being misinformed about no more fees, only to see that there was non included fees within price after completing my booking... I then cancelled straight away and thought I won't bother with a car rental at all... I have now been on phone to Avis and my bank atleast 5 times only to be told each time that Avis do not have the money, and my bank states they need to release the money... getting nowhere and honestly feel like I have been robbed. This is all I can think of doing as calling doesn't seem to get me anywhere anymore. I want my money back ASAP, did not realise it would be this hard to get money back that I do not need to pay...
