Called Police on Loyal Customer
I am a Long time Cumberland farms customer - Boston Neck Rd Narragansett RI. Stopped this morning (8/29/2019) filled up with gas and got a beverage. Had to take an international business call via Skype so I pulled into a parking spot furthest away from everyone to get on call with a laptop and headset. This spot was not marked restricted or for X use only, etc. just a normal parking spot. Next this customer comes literally/physically banging on my window to get out of here she needs air in her tires. The spot was near the air machine. I go on mute and say i would move but you'll have to wait I cannot I am on a call at the moment via Skype. To drive with an open laptop, headset and in use mobile phone I would think might be illegal in some way! And even if i could drop the call there were not any other spots open near me. So next a Cumberland Manager comes out and says to get out of my spot. Literally his exact words. I put the call on mute and said the same thing I cannot move right then. The manager went in and called the police who show up like I was some criminal. A crowd gathered as he calls in my plate number and I am sitting in the car with a headset on and open laptop. The cop told me the manager wants me out of here. Exact words. I had to drop my call. I told him yes it would appear inconsiderate but I was not able to move nor were there any spots to move too. Again a loyal long time customer who had just filled up and purchased a beverage and wanted to take a call before heading to my office. This was a sad treatment of a loyal customer to say the least. I think you need to rethink this guy in charge.
