They have gotten ridiculous. We missed a shut off notice because we owed a $260 bill the first time in 11 years of being customers. They told me on the phone when I called we had to pay the bill plus 190 so I did. Then we find out what they did not say - they required a 763 deposit. And they required payments of 190 a month until that was paid in full. I called to find out what the heck was going on. The agent was rude and obnoxious. I asked for a written copy of this policy and when if ever it would be refunded back to us. He said look online and I told him its not online anywhere I can find it. Then he said well you got written notice. No we did not he basically called me a liar. I filed an online complaint about this. They never responded. To this day I have no explanation of how long they are holding on to the extra 763. I know I will have to go to their actual office to try to get an answer but I dread it after the way I have been treated. Requiring a 763 deposit because of one late payment of 260 is ridiculous. Shame on Black Hills Energy. I even asked of a letter of credit form my bank would be permitted since my credit was ok and we never had an issue in 11 years and they said no exceptions. We missed their shut off guy by 3 minutes. I know its our fault for being on travel and spacing off the payment but seriously? A 763 payment for a missed 260 payment and the first one in 11 years? Come on.
