Accidentally we bounced a check to them twice- once when my husband took out money without telling me and the 2nd time when my mom passed away. We set up a repayment plan with Eversource. They wouldn't let us pay by check anymore, so used the debit card the first month. Next month, we got a shut-off notice even though we paid on time. After a lengthy time on the phone, a new payment plan was submitted. The third month we also got a shut-off notice, and spent more time trying to figure out why. Each time our payment was over $400. This month now, we got another shut-off notice for the 8th. On the first I was on the phone with them at great length. This time they said they only wanted CASH, no debit card, and to go pay in person. Now I have mobility issues and wear a brace. I don't want to risk carrying around over $400 cash. So, again I contacted them. The guy suggested I have my bank mail out a cashier's check which I did. On the 2nd, I called Eversource back to let them know the payment was coming. The lady said it wouldn't process for 14 days, and it would serve us right to have the electricity turned off as we broke our promise to them twice by the NSFs! We are a military retired family and don't need to be treated like this. Bullied, and scolded, and not being ALLOWED to pay them. Now, it says right on the shut-off letter to allow 3-5 days processing by mail. Then she said because I didn't overnight it, we were out of luck. The guy prior who suggested the cashier's check said we had plenty of time. So, now we are worried about our electricity being shut off, and since we already had the $443.65 drafted from the account, we don't have any other options. And it leaves only a $100+ balance!
