Bulldog puppy with multiple congenital defects

3

Horrible Experience! Sold us a male bulldog and the poor little guy has one testicle that did not descend. Melissa Riley told us that it really wasn't that much of a problem and we could still show him - all we had to do was have a vet insert a prosthetic testicle and the judges would never know. This apparently is her idea of how to "improve" the breed. It turns out this condition is inherited and if the testicle isn't surgically removed there is a significant risk of cancer. It's had to believe, but this was not the most serious genetically inherited condition - mega espohaegus, which significantly reduces life expectancy and requires continual care which is expensive and compromises his every day life. The names of the sire and dam were Athena and Zeus. We told Melissa this problem could be passed on to future puppies of this pair and she continued to breed the pair. I don't know which of his parents carry the genes, but she apparently is not concerned. She sold us our dog with breeding rights and refused to acknowledge that there was a problem - we will never breed our dog because of the chance that a puppy will inherit these costly and life-threatening health problems.
