BS surcharge after euthanizing my pet

I was with them for 13 years with my dog. I think they have become steadily more corporate. I had to euthanize my dog yesterday and I tried to get ahold of someone to cancel the plan. After being on hold for 44 minutes, I was told I had to pay an additional $257 due to some fuzzy language in the contract about remaining billing out of plan vs in plan. It’s basically just a way for them to get money out of you because your pet is deceased and you and they won’t get any more monthly billing out of you. User's recommendation: Beware.
