BookVenture is a scam

1

I was contacted by BookVenture through Elliot Devolin with the promise that for $2,800 they would publish and market my book "Modern Errors about the New Testament." I insisted that they would do page numbering as well as location numbering in the functionality of the e-book. After I paid the original price, they increase the price to $4,000. Then about 2 months later Lucas Madrid, Marketing Director, offered to do the marketing for the book for $10,000, and since I was retired offered to do it for $3,000 with the rest to come from my commissions as the book sold. After two more months Elliot promised 100% royalty rather than 80% for another 3,000 with a $900 down payment and the rest from commissions. A month later the Finance Dept. called and said the other $7,000 for the marketing was now due, I answered that that was not the deal I made with Lucas. Lucas called back to claim he was in trouble with management and I needed to send more money. I sent another $3,000 with the remaining $4,000 to be from commissions. Then Elliot called for the other $1,200 for the publishing, and thereafter kept calling month after month for the remainder of the 100% commission ($2,100). Then the Finance Department called for the other $4,000 of the marketing. Lucas claimed he had ordered 25,000 copies of the book because the Catholic book chains wanted physical copies rather than electronic PBF files, and that I had to help defray the costs of those books with the remaining $4,000. Finally, the book was published in November, but no e-book. The man responsible for the e-book claimed he could not do the page numbering, since that would require the e-book to show all spaces, etc. of every page and make the e-book unmanageable for the reader (he totally misunderstood that I wanted it done within the e-book functionality and NOT as part of the actual reader's pages). At the same time I received an e-mail from Laura Tan showing I would receive only 80% commission. I immediately sent to the bank a claim of fraud for the $900 I paid for the 100% commission and was able to get that money returned. All I ever received for the $10,000 in marketing was some posters and post cards and business cards and a telephone radio interview with supposedly a Fort Wayne Radio Station supposedly advertising for BookVenture with a very poor sound recording because I am speaking on a long distance phone call and there was not even a microphone connected to the receiving phone. All of this may have cost BookVenture at the very most $100 for the $10,000 they charged me. There were no book Fairs, No books were distributed to religious book outlets and only the PDF file of the book was made available to Amazon, Barnes & Nobles, etc. AND THAT IS ALL THE MARKETING Bookventure ever did. The other problem with BookVenture is that they claim to be located at 1000 Country Lane Ste 300, Ishpeming MI 49849, phone 877 276-****, but there is no one there and the phone is never answered except by machine. The only way to contact anyone is by e-mail. They have great difficulty in making calls to the USA, thus showing they are in a foreign country. They are not in the USA and but apparently in the Philippines and not subject legal claims from the USA. They have no longer corresponded for months. And obviously, the 25,000 books were never printed! I lost a full $11,100 through their deceptions and fraud including the extra $1,200 for printing and have no working e-book since they refused to do the extra work as promised from the beginning. A fair compensation would be the return of that $11,100. I have all the receipts for every cent I paid them. And I could show them here, but what good will that do?
