Big rig not friendly at site 107
3
Mercer/Grove City KOA. Advertises deluxe pull through sites. One is site 107. We had the site next to it for 4 nights Day one a Cornerstone took about 20 minutes to shoe horn in. Then had to take 10 to 15 to back out. Had Charlie not been a very calm and expert driver with 3 spotters he could have easily damaged that expensive rig Next came an inexperienced 5th wheel driver with a brand new rig and truck. It was obvious the driver had a rough day already and couldn’t get into the site. He asked for a different site, but instead a second park employee came to make him try again. After that, a 3rd park employee came to badger him more making comments like “ a good driver could do it” and “we’ve had 55 footers in here”. By this time I had joined 3 or 4 other bystanders. The owner of the 5th wheel came to me and said “they want me to drive the 5th wheel over the patio curb to get in”. I looked at the patio and estimated it to be 6 inches above grade and immediately said that’s crazy. Finally as more bystanders were noticing, the park decided to get him a different site This is not acceptable for any KOA. When we book a pull through advertised as deluxe and long, we shouldn’t have issues pulling in or out. And to have these park employees badgering the driver to the extent he almost took a big gouge out of his new pickup is truly wrong
