Beware overpricing Collusion with Priority Health to bilk patients
2
I needed an MRI, tried to find out the cost of the procedure on the Cost Estimator at Priority Health (owned by Spectrum) but it was down, and hasn't worked every time after that that I've tried to use it. Had an independent benefits manager try to log on with her pw, no luck. Called Priority Health customer service and the Cost estimator was down for her as well. So much for transparency. The Spectrum bill was almost 3,000 including contrast lab charge, and although they are the same company as Priority health, they do not 'follow' the prices on the cost estimator -had I even been able to get a price. So I went on healthcarebluebook.com and found out that a fair price (in my zipcode) is less that half what Spectrum billed. When I asked for an adjustment, Spectrum told me their charge was reasonable "because Priority Health didn't dispute it" and honored the claim. Of course Priority approved it, it's their Hospital and they only have to pay $300 of it, leaving me with the $1877.00 deductible. I'm getting my follow-up MRI in Flint, MI at a cost of $400 at Regional Medical Imaging. Stay away from the Spectrum-Priority exorbitant price scam.
