Battery trimmer

I bought a single line trimmer about a year ago, a yardworks trimmer. The spool cover wore out I have tried everything to get a new one They have informed me that they have no replacement part for my trimmer, so I have to throw it into the garbage because it can't be used without the spool cover I think in view of this situation, they should provide me with a new one
