Arche Shoes – Company DOES NOT stand behind their product!!!

This past June I purchased a pair of Arche Shoes for my wife and the dye bled when they became wet in the rain and now the black shoes are charcoal grey. I had correspondence with customer service and received the less than satisfactory response below. So should you be the judge before spending a considerable amount of money on what are claimed to be a high quality product!!! We are sorry to hear about the inconvenience you have experienced with the pair of shoes. Our tanners are already researching on the problem you have to deal with but, actually, it is quite regular among the leather industry. Despite progresses noticed every year, it is impossible to fix colours with chemicals and, at the same time, to guarantee you suppleness, natural qualities and comfort. A deep treatment would make the leather tough and harsh. Moreover, it would be based on the use of chemicals which are forbidden by the regulation for being injurious to health. As a matter of fact, we inform you that our products are made according to French and European security regulations (especially the German which are stricter) applied to colour chemical treatments and components. However the best we do, high colours might come off, more or less, depending on everyone’s skin acidity. Our advice would be to clean regularly the inside of your shoes with an alcohol-soaked rag or a waterproof spray. Paradoxically, it is always high-quality products, made of traditionally-tanned leather to meet European regulations about environment and health conservation, which are concerned. The phenomenon is under research, and we do the best to give you satisfaction. We are currently working with the tanneries to find a solution to this problem. We advise our customer to place a rag soaked in medical alcohol inside the shoe (without scrubbing) and to leave it inside the shoe for 24 hours up to 48 hours in a dry and fresh room. The shoes have to be kept out of direct light (sun) and heat source (hair dryer, heating…). Hope these explanations can help you to understand the arche concept, and that you will enjoy suppleness and comfort of your arche shoes. Counting on your comprehension
