Ameren placed a $200.00 deposit on my account after an unwarranted and avoidable disconnect. Which I had paid $300 plus just two weeks before from payment arrangement I kept. Then come to find out, deposit is actually $332.00, disputed this point to no ends, complained everywhere. Now, after cold weather rule, they tacked on this $332.00 deposit in addition to regular bill and will cut service off if not paid. Even the State Attorney General's Office contacted them about this case, nothing, did not even consider adjusting. Ameren has too much power, they can add on whatever they feel like and nobody can do anything about it so it seems. Their customer service reps lie telling me they don't have power to take off or adjust deposits. I believe they set my account up just to put on the deposit... I've never missed payment on bill and they could not justify purpose for deposit. I offered a way to pay entire bill down to zero, they outright refused, so now to keep my electric on other critical bills will need to bypassed. Ameren could've easily worked with me, but they just outright refused. They do not help and give nothing but sideline spiel of "THEIR" rights without customers being concerned whatsoever. There needs to be critical oversight of them. They are Boeing Aviation, they create their own rules and police themselves. The workers who came to re-connect power told horror stories of working there and other customers Ameren did atrocious things to.... Where does it end? and Where are our rights?... State Councils have no authority over them unless it's something Ameren does outside of its legal obligation. In just doing skim research, the lawsuits against them, the complaints are innumerous, how they do business, treat customers... I truly do not see how they maintain and operate... they are truly corruption massive beyond.
