Always get second opinion

Update by user Jan 14, 2020 A record of the specification was not provided to document problems found as mandated by the state. Original review posted by user Jan 14, 2020 I went in for an inspection as is done every year at the same location. After failing emissions and told the car needed to be driven for 100 miles to reset the system, I returned for the inspection portion, which had been already paid for. When I returned I was informed that I did not pass and that I needed two tie rods(front) and a ball joint (drivers side). This was offered at a price of $512.00. I thought that this was a little steep knowing my mechanic could do it for less. The manager quickly balled the invoice up in my face and told me that everytime I come to his shop and he makes recommendations I reject it and go elsewhere. I was offended but at this point not irate because he is right. I can buy tires for less and can do brakes myself. After talking with my mechanic during my drive home I realized that I may have misrepresented the repairs needed and the invoice would be helpful to order the parts. When I returned I asked for the invoice that had been rudely presented, I was accused of asking the tech to perform a dirty emissions test. I immediately rebutted and argued the point that it was not me and I would not make such a request knowing the consequences because of my personal background as a licensed inspector in another state. They both apologize after realizing they may have made a mistake. I also ask for the corporate number. When I was finally able to get in with my mechanic and after ordering the suggested parts from Mr Tires invoice, I found out that there was a complete misdiagnosis and the real problem is a wheel bearing. At the end of the day I realize that having had the emissions performed by Mr Tire I have no choice but to take the car back to be inspected by a company that I have no confidence in their honesty, ability or integrity. My only recourse in to report this to the company, the Better Business Bureau and the state. I don't expect much from the company after the equally rude treatment received when talking to customer service.
