Allied Home Warranty contract scam

Their one page contract is a scam. It is so vague they can deny any claim by calling the repair a "modification." Allied Home Warranty owns their contractor, NRG Home Services. It says so in their financial statement I got from the Texas Real Estate Commission. Here is how the Allied Home Warranty scam works. They charge you a service fee to come out and inspect the problem. If the repair would cost them too much money they call it a "modification" and their contract doesn't cover modifications. Or, they will over-quote the cost of repair by two to three times the actual cost and give you a token amount toward the repair. They may quote you $1,500 and give you a $200 credit toward the repair when you could have had the work done by someone else for $500. Here is how to file proper complaint against Allied Home Warranty. File it with the state agency that licenses them, the Texas Real Estate Commission. Search for "trec residential service program." Click the link for Complaints to start the process. Allied Home Warranty is required by law to respond. I filed an open records request and found that in some cases Allied Home Warranty settled with people that filed complaints this way.
