I have been a PD patient for over 3 years. I know what I am doing. My recent order of supplies from Baxter was not delivered. My regular driver was replaced by a substitute. My driver knows not to come before 1300. The substitute driver came before then, and I told him it would be about 10 minutes before I would be off dialysis. He would not wait and left, not to return. I called Baxter and they told me they would have a truck out to me in about 10 days. I told them I had enough supplies for about 5 days. They immediately scheduled me fo a UPS shipment of supplies to tied me over. Then my PD nurse cancelled the UPS shipment as well as the 10 day out truck delivery. She never even called me to ask why I had coordinated all this with Baxter. She said I should have gotten the regular shipment; didn’t check or call to that I had not. She said she cancelled all the supplemental deliveries because DaVita didn’t want to pay for that. Now I’m left without supplies and had to go to one DaVita facility to pick up a 3 day supply and another facility to pick up a one week supply. These boxes of fluid are heavy and I don’t appreciate having to run around fron facility to facility hauling these things out of 2nd floors, loading them in my car,and then having to carry them from the car up to the 2nd floor of my house. I had it all worked out before DaVita inserted themselves. My supplies would have been delivered on topime and to my door. For the astronomical rates DaVita charges for dialysis, a UPS shipment is pretty petty. I’m looking into voting with my feet and checking out Fresinia:s services.
