I agree with all who complained regarding customer service, it is awful. But there is something even worse they do to customers. In January 2020 my payment came two days late and was charged late fee. I was long time good customer with perfect credit history. So, I requested to remove this fee. My request was denied because, as I was explained, this is their policy not to forgive late fee even if you paid in full. I asked for the manager, but she was firm denying charge removal. I told to the representative that I want to pay balance including the late fee, bring my balance to zero and close my account. I also left to Barclays master card over 60,000 points which I did not use. Three months later I received a letter that I owe Barclays $41.50 because there was $10 charge, which representative forgot to include when I was closing my account in January and the rest of it late fees and charges. Surprised I called Barclays customer service to settle the case, but the representative and after that the manager told me that I must pay this amount, or there will be consequences, this will be reported to my credit history. The whole conversation was extremely unpleasant. As I am writing this, I am quite sure Barclays is adding more out of blue-sky charges. I understand this as when company fails to do proper and fair business, they must create other sources of income as these fictitious charges and fees. No shame, no limits. User's recommendation: avoid by any means this credit card.
