Abusive staff. Discrimination

1

Please see my recent review on your Southampton Facebook page: *Not even worth a 1 star. The worst experience I have ever encountered. This salon are absolutely awful. DO NOT GO HERE. I was 5 minutes late for my appointment and was told that I could only have half a head instead of full head. The guy at the front desk was not very nice. The stylist then proceeded to tell me that I can’t have full head due to being late. I know most good hair salons book appointments ahead of time to allow to people running late. If every salon cancelled a late client they would be out of business!! I had travelled for 1 hour as a new client to have the 50% offer. I foolishly decided to rebook and on the phone the girl was rude and obnoxious. I asked how much it would be and she said “what you aren’t understanding is that cut isn’t half price and you have to have that too”. She had no customer service skills. I had not been there before and didn’t know what the offer was. She was sarcastic and absolutely vile to me. I’ve never been spoken to like that in my life. I am a polite educated person and had someone talk to me like she’s got some sense of entitlement to talk to someone like that. I said at the end of the phone call how I felt she was very rude just then and I said no offence. And she said “well I shouldn’t have to tell you 4 times the price”. She hasn’t told me 4 times. Anyway, she then hung up on me. I am glad I didn’t end up going there. If someone at front of house has vile customer service skills like that I definitely don’t want them going near my hair. I have never wrote a bad review for anywhere. Do not go to this salon. Absolutely horrendous place full of vile staff* Your front of half staff (likely who will pick up and delete this) are shocking and I am not impressed with the ‘service’ I have received. You don’t have be educated to have manners and that is clearly lacking at rush. I wouldn’t even go back for a free colour and cut. Awful. I am going to complain to the National Hairdresser’s Federation. People go to get their hair done for a number of reasons. I was enquiring about the price and got “what you aren’t understanding is the cut isn’t half price” (in a rude obnoxious and volatile manner). She continued to be abusive. I said “ok I will leave it thanks”. I the informed her that she had been very rude to me and she said “well I shouldn’t have to tell you 4 times.” What if I had a traumatic brain injury, or had just lost a close relative? Is it acceptable to speak to someone like that and basically abuse me over the phone when I am just enquiring about a booking. I am taking this to the National Hairdresser’s Federation. I want to do this to protect other people from experiencing this abuse. You can’t speak to people like that. Imagine the NHS spoke to you like that if you asked a question more that once, or a teacher behaved like that. It’s absolutely disgusting. You do hear of evil people working in care homes. This girl is exactly the same. Just because it’s a hair salon and not a care home you still have a duty of care. Just to clarify- I only queried the price once. Unfortunately that girl has upset the wrong person. I work as a researcher for the government and I can certainly do my homework. I want to protect others from what could be traumatic for others. There is obviously no customer service training involved at rush and you aren’t fussy about who you hire. I read that some hair salons are being trained to spot signs of domestic abuse. I know that won’t be something rush are interested in as their front of staff are allowed to be abusive to clients. Please see link to discrimination rights: https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/discrimination-in-the-provision-of-goods-and-services/discrimination-in-the-provision-of-goods-and-services1/goods-and-services-what-are-the-different-types-of-discrimination/discrimination-in-the-provision-of-goods-and-services-harassment/ - do you realise some people have mental health issues that impact memory? - do you realise some customers might not be thinking properly due to other trauma in their life - have you any awareness or training of people with dementia and Alzheimer’s If this situation happened to my gran you would be facing an appearance in court. There are regulations to protect vulnerable adults. I am disgusted at the behaviour of this salon. I would be interested to know what you intend to do about the member last staffs abuse of power?
