They told us that they would need to take the computer off site to fix it and that it was a flat rate of $250 (which they say on their website they don't do). This didn't seem right to me at the time but we agreed and let him take it. The technician Peter assured us that the computer would be returned to us exactly as it was with the exception being that the wifi would be fixed. It took a bit longer than he had said it would due to "Car problems". Anyhow, he came to return the computer and I checked to see the wifi was working. With that said, I didn't think to check if the files where there and if programs were running properly while Peter was there? Again, Peter assured that what he was doing would not affect any of the documents or programs on the computer. So, all I checked was to see if the wifi was working, that was the original issue. Unfortunately, it only worked for those couple of minutes when he dropped off the laptop. The next time I turned on the computer to use it, it no longer worked. Additionally, some programs would no longer open and I came to noticed personal files including tax documents, property documents, other financial documents and all of my photos were gone. As soon as I noticed, I notified Peter, to which Peter suggested that the files were never there to begin with. He kept repeating a process that he uses to do the backup, again implying that I didn't know what was on my own computer. Regardless of what he thinks, my Work and Personal folders are completely gone. This is unacceptable. Additionally, Peter kept telling me to check my Dropbox for them.... now, I may not be able to fix a computer but I'm not an *** - files don't magically migrate to new places. Besides condescending emails, refusing to acknowledge that he made a mistake, and continually repeating the same things that make no sense, we have received no more help from Peter. He also continually referred to their terms.pdf which he believes release him of any wrong doing. Instead of being helpful he is hiding behind a document. I have never before paid for a service, been expected to check everything in the 5 minutes the tech is here and then that is it! Usually, you have a couple days to check it out and see if it is working. If there is a problem, at that point you come back and look at it again. Please also note that I requested a supervisors information to which Peter refused. I cannot express to you how upsetting this whole situation has been. Not only does it feel like we have been scammed out of our money to fix a computer, we have been made to feel *** and are now worse off than when we made the appointment. I lost all my photos and memories from over 5 years. I also feel like I am at risk with all of my personal and financial documents missing.
