ABC Carpet–beware of return policy
I live out of town and when in NYC last January, bought a rug for our beach house in Montauk--specifically telling the salesperson (Irene) that our house in Montauk was under construction and we wouldn't know if the rug was 'right' until August or September. She assured us all was well--although we couldn't expect a cash refund, an exchange or credit was reasonable. We NEVER would have bought the rug BUT FOR assurances of an ethical and easy return policy...We felt our purchase was safe. It wasn't. Dealing with ABC --it turns out is TRULY--caveat emptor. Buyer Beware. I called the store today to advise that we finally were able to try out the rug this past week and, sadly, the rug didn't work. I cheerfully stated a store credit would be fine. Instead, I was told they would not accept any return. Shocking. I called to speak to the Manager--and was left waiting on the phone for 10 minutes until I gave up.. UNETHICAL....DO NOT BUY UNLESS YOU ARE 100% SURE THE PURCHASE WILL WORK. SALESPEOPLE WILL TELL YOU ANYTHING TO GET A SALE. SCARY!
