A Sales Sweatshop in Credico’s Entry-level Marketing Pyramid Scheme

If you have ever worked for this company or been called for an interview, take heed of my warning: This is not a job. This not an honest place of business. This is a sales sweatshop designed to serve the sole purpose of making a few men rich at your expense. And it is illegitimate. Detroit Business Consultants would have job seekers believe that it's a legitimate company offering growth, competitive pay and a promising career. It would also have job seekers believe that it offers an opportunity no other company offers. However, what DBC would not want you to know is that it is a money-making franchisee for one of the largest pyramid schemes secretly dominating the American job market - Credico. Credico, a descendant to the DS-Max entry-level marketing scheme (Cydcor, Appco, and Smart Circle follow the same scheme as well - https://doortodoortruth.wordpress.com/), devised a clever system where hundreds of seemingly independent marketing offices across America and the globe - like DBC - would follow the "Management Training Program" and wire the fruits of cheap labor up a pyramid into the pockets of Credico's executives and the Fortune 500 clients (like Sprint, Verizon, Comcast, etc.) with whom Credico contracts. How the scheme works is that offices under the Credico parent company hire workers whom they classify as "independent contractors." These 'contractors', however, must report to the office every morning for sales training and then go to designated locations and/or neighborhoods soliciting customers door-to-door, face-to-face, and/or business-to-business, pushing whichever sales campaign they're contracted to work on. This goes on for 6-days a week, 12-hours each day on a fixed schedule. There are no sick days, no vacation time, no benefits, and no base pay. 'Contractors' are paid on a commission-only basis, getting paid a paltry sum far less than minimum wage laws demand. Despite being classified as an independent contractor, the worker is anything but, and performs highly profitable, risk-free sales work for Credico and the companies it contracts with. The office, like Detroit Business Consultants, justifies this legal malfeasance because it's all part of the 'Management Training Program.' They say you're in the business for yourself, and that if you work hard enough and dupe enough suckers to surrender economic stability and legal protections, you can become a 'business owner' too, open an office, and retire young. But there is no ownership. Anyone who becomes a licensee is forced to treat their workers the same way as they were treated to maximize Credico's bottom line, and any licensee who doesn't play ball can be replaced with the snap of a finger or denied to work with Credico's big-name clients. In other words, DBC is just a facade, like hundreds of Credico's companies, designed only to exploit naive, unsuspecting job seekers for the big companies Credico works with. These offices are essentially reverse boiler rooms: the potential investors are unsuspecting new hires suckered in by high-pressure salespeople pushing a worthless, empty 'opportunity' of a path to management. Ethically, it's arguably worse than a typical boiler room, because instead of conning investors who have money, it cons and defrauds people looking for an honest way to support their family. These boiler room scams deserve to be brought to light, and people deserve to know what they're getting involved in when they choose to work with this sweatshop. If you have worked for them or a scam like it, let me know in the comments below. - Vy Amity
