A Legal Product With No Law and a Customer Service Disinterested in Customers
1
I purchased the Cryptocurrency Primer pdf for close to $70 hoping that the document would have the expected cases and statutes and other information necessary for legal research. The document turned out to be 2 1/2 pages of brief summaries and links. There were no court cases, citations, or anything of use from a legal standpoint. I immediately contacted customer service to complain that the document did not deliver on any of the promises of its caption. But more than anything, I as a lawyer, had no intention of spending that kind of money for such a brief document with no legal citations or even a reference to the more widely-known cases. I was forced to continue my research without it, and was pleased to find far more information, actual court documents, citations, etc. from Bing, Google, Wikipedia, and the crypto websites. Upon contacting the company, the personnel was dismissive. When I requested speaking to a supervisor, that person, too, was dismissive. My issue was never resolved. In the end, believing Lexis could be relied upon to provide a legal authority on the matter, I gave away $70 for what amounts to a free 20 minute internet search.
