Tariff change

I pay for gas every month in good faith. On June 1, I received an invoice from LG, by which they announce that from October 1, 2008 the gas consumption tariffs have been changed. Since I always pay according to the old tariff, now I have to pay the whole difference at once. Was it not then their duty to inform them in good time? And what do I do now?
