Tired of how they treat “certain” people…it’s 2018.

To start, I have eaten at each location (LaVergne, Smyrna AND Mt. Juliet) and I will first say that the food is not my issue, it is the service. My fiance loves MH. The issue is that at each location the service that I receive is always sub par at best. As a black male I am aware of the stereotypical and historically based issues amongst blacks and some hispanics, but I am sick of how it rears its ugly head at 75% of the Mexican establishments I have spent MY money in since I've been to TN. Some are better at faking it more than others. Last week I went to the Mt. Juliet location. I was waiting for my fiance to join me which took longer than planned as she got off late and got stuck in traffic. Before she arrived I ordered the Happy Hour BOGO beer and said I wanted to wait before ordering food. They brought me chips and salsa in the meantime. Here's where the situation gets odd. I was the only person at the bar for at least 20 minutes. I am the only African American at the the entire time Im there, as well as in the restaurant. They provided great service to everyone around me. All of whom were Caucasian. Salsa gets low, they refill it quickly. Drink gets low, the offer for another is rapid. The conversation was flowing and their food came quick. Meanwhile, I am sitting at the bar waiting to grab another beer and some water and more salsa and no one even talks to me, ask I needed anything, etc. There is a female behind the bar who never says a word to me. The male that was there when I arrived comes back after being gone for 15 minutes. I explain that my fiance hasnt arrived yest but I want to order a taco to hold me over. 10 minutes later my single taco arrives half cold. I still did not lose my marbles. At this time my fiance walks in. She sits down and the female bartender talks to her as well as the male bartender. I simply asked for some salsa for my taco and he turns around and completely snaps on me to the point where the guy next to me looks over and says wow! I respond, "that happens at each location I go to. I am starting to believe its a black male thing, especially at MH." This guy is a regular and apparently knows the owner or manager and says "I can see why. His behavior was unnecessary." I then tell my fiance I have had it. This happens at EVERY MH and I am done. If you dont want my money I will go elsewhere, But I will inform everyone I know about this. It's 2018. Grow up MH.
